Emergency nursing is a specialty within the field of professional nursing focusing on the care of patients who require prompt medical attention to avoid long-term disability or death. It typically deals with accidents, natural disasters, life threatening conditions and emergency situations. Students of this major learn how to cope with critical situations and provide vital care to the patients.
The graduates of the program can fulfill various tasks to manage critical conditions, promote emergency care quality and prevent fatal complications in disastrous situations. It is a valuable experience to perform the program in Islamic Republic of Iran. The curriculum has been developed to respond to ever-changing needs of developing countries regarding industrialization and different services needed for large populations in urban areas or clients suffering from natural disasters around the globe.
Students are required to pass the total number of 32 units in master 's degree of emergency nursing; of which 28 are specialized units and 4 are thesis units.
The mission of this field is to train capable and knowledgeable nurses who are able to provide nursing services in emergencies, disasters and accidents.
Graduates are expected to 
• be able to establish appropriate professional communication with patients, emergency teams and other health officials.
• be able to diagnose and evaluate clients' problems and provide evidence-based nursing care.
• Be able to manage patients with trauma, burns, chemical and nuclear accidents
• Be effective in conducting applied research.
