Kerman Medical University (KMU) was founded in 1977, when 50 medical students were accepted and commenced their studies. The University carried on its activities independently as Kerman University of Medical Sciences since 1987, and now it is one of the largest medical universities in Iran and the top medical university in southeast of the country with 11000 staff.

In terms of education, KMU with more than 500 faculty members and 6000 students in undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD programs is an optimal environment for student to study high quality medical sciences and health services. The university consists of 8 Faculties including Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing and Midwifery, Allied Medicine, Health Care Management and Information, Public Health, and Traditional Medicine. In most of postgraduate programs KMU admits students, instructors and individuals who like to take part in long and short term education in clinical, internship, treatment and training programs. International students are welcome to attend undergraduate, postgraduate taught courses and research based programs. With year-rounded admission process, there is no time limitation for applying. Admissions granted without regard to race, religion, gender, and nationality.
When it comes to research, KMU is a convenient research promoting place with 3 research institutes and more than 28 research centers such as neuroscience, physiology and pharmaceutics. Research grants are provided to proposals focusing on various aspects of medical and life science topics. KMU’s Incubator Center is the host of several knowledge base corporations and has already helped 8 products reach the market.
12 Hospitals and outpatient clinics affiliated to KMU welcome patients in different clinical fields from other countries. Health tourism is encouraged via subsidizing clinical costs and visa facilitation.
