Our institution is a referral center for cardiac surgery in the north east of Iran. We perform more than 1500 cardiac surgeries per year including a variety of adult and pediatric surgeries. Our ICU contains 21 beds located in Imam Reza Hospital - the biggest general hospital in the region. Our unit is a teaching place for residents of anesthesiology and fellows of critical care. Our department has a good reputation for patients’ outcome and services. In addition to teaching, we are involved in a lot of researches in the field of cardiac surgery including perioperative management.
Our place can be a good target for those who want to improve their knowledge and experience with respect to critical care following cardiac surgery.
We provide a two-month program for approved candidates. The participants will attend lectures, morning reports, journal clubs, and teaching rounds held in the unit. Additionally, they can participate in the ongoing researches performed by our attendees. They are expected to be able to learn how to approach a postcardiac surgical patient, hemodynamic monitoring of cardiac patients, ventilator management, recognize and manage potential postoperative complications including perioperative MI, common arrhythmias, heart failure, acute kidney injury, pleural effusion, neurologic disorders, hypo and hypertension, and delirium
