Renal failure is one the most expensive conditions seen in the hopitalized patients. Acute kidney injury (AKI), previously called acute renal failure (ARF), is an abrupt loss of kidney functioning developing within 7 days.
Renal failure is one the most expensive conditions seen in the hopitalized patients. Acute kidney injury (AKI), previously called acute renal failure (ARF), is an abrupt loss of kidney functioning developing within 7 days.
The reason of AKI are numerous. Generally, it happens due to damage to the kidney tissue caused by decreased renal blood flow (renal ischemia) from any cause (e.g. low blood pressure), exposure to substances harmful to the kidney, an inflammatory process in the kidney, and/or a kidney obstructive condition. AKI is diagnosed on the basis of characteristic laboratory findings including an increase in blood urea nitrogen and creatinine, and/or kidney insufficiency in producing enough amounts of urine.
This short course program has been organized for the young researchers from different countries to improve their skills regarding kidney functioning studies.
The foreign applicants would be expected to become capable of establishing different animal models of AKI.
This short training course includes:
Working with animal,
Establishing different models of AKI in rat: toxic and Ischemic models,
Evaluating kidney functioning: serum markers and clearance study.
Regular teaching events:
Lectures
Journal club
Working in the renal laboratory and learning the techniques
Establishing the AKI models
