This course, "Introduction to design and analysis of experimental studies" covers the basic statistical principles in the design and analysis of experimental studies with focus on randomized controlled trials. Participants will learn the basic principles for the design of trials,  sample size determination, Randomization and statistical analysis.  This course will be conducted in 4 weeks and the contents are as follow:

• Principles of design of experiments  (control, randomization)
• ABC of clinical trials (assigning at random, blinding, and comparing with control)
• Commonly used designs (randomized parallel design, randomized block design, cross over design, nested design)
• Power and sample size
• Trial objectives, hypotheses,  nature of endpoints (categorical/continuous)
• Analyzing categorical end point (chi-square and Fisher test logistic regression and probit model for binary and multinomial responses)
• Analyzing normal continues end points (t-test, ANOVA, ANCOVA, General linear models GLM)
• Analyzing non- normal continues end points (non parametric analysis such as Mann- Whitney an Kruskal Wallis tests )
