The Department of Pharmacology was established at MUMS in 1966. Faculty members in the department of Pharmacology are engaged in research in areas of neural, cardiovascular, endocrine, cancer biology, regenerative medicine and clinical pharmacology as well as drug development, especially herbal medicines. Exceptional students with an Pharm.D. or M.D. degree may be admitted into the Ph.D. program.
The Mission of the Department of Medical Pharmacology is to provide quality educational programs related to our discipline, to conduct research that serves to advance fundamental knowledge of
drug action ranging from molecular mechanisms to clinical applications, and to serve as a source of basic and clinical pharmacological expertise for the Medical School, the University, and local, national, and international communities.
The shared research interests in pharmacology, drug development, therapeutics and toxicology allow students to gain broad-based exposure to fundamental as well as medically-related aspects of drug research.
