This course is a complementary branch of a specialized field of ear, nose, and throat and head and neck Surgery. The graduates of this field are involved in prevention, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of the diseases associated with hearing and balance disorders.
The duration of this course is 1 year with the aim of providing the community with knowledge and skills on prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of diseases of the ear, skull base, and adjacent structures.
Specific Competencies and Skills
At the end of the program learners will be competent in the following skills:
• Mastoidectomy / Tympanoplasty:
o CWU (Canal wall up)
o CWD (Canal wall down)
• Atresia repair (congenital ear disease)
• Acoustic neuroma surgery
o Translabyrinthine
o Suboccipital
• Middle fossa
• Glomus surgery and other skull base tumors
• Vertigo surgery (sac surgery – labyrinthectomy vestibular neurectomy)
• Transpetrosal approach
• Cochlear implantation surgery
• Otosclerosis surgery
• Facial paralysis (Facial nerve decompression)
