  Dining at YUMS

YUMS offers a partial meal plan to international students. This means that ONLY lunch is served at a reduced price and students are supposed to pay full fee for both breakfast and dinner. Lunch is served in the university restaurants on university workdays, i.e. Saturday to Wednesday, which does not include holidays. You should not worry about the holidays and weekends, though. Since our dormitories favor fully equipped kitchens which let you cook easily. If you have no time to cook, or you simply hate it call a catering service, and they will deliver it to you.

There are still other options for those who enjoy eating out. Several restaurants and fast food restaurants are available all over the city. You have the opportunity to experience a wide range of foods, ranging from traditional Iranian or even ethnic dishes to fast foods and pizzas in those restaurants.

If you like to have a snack, drink a cup of coffee or herbal tea, or spend your time chatting with your friends try a local coffee shop or one in other districts. When you have no time to sit in a coffee shop, and you need take-away snacks or drinks, drop by a snack kiosk or a juice stand.

  Visa Application and Residence Permit

As a non-resident international student, you are obliged to get a visa to enter Iran. Since visa application might be a complicated procedure for you, YUMS assumes the responsibility to apply for the visa process for all prospective international students, who have been granted admission to YUMS. The consular affairs that international students deal with are divided into two phases. The first phase covers the period prior to your arrival in Iran and the next phase refers to the time after your arrival.

Before Arrival

Upon receipt of your admission, you are requested to submit the following items to YUMS via e-mail, so that your visa application procedure can commence:

  • Passport size photo

  • A scanned copy of the information pages of your passport.

  • Compeleted VISA Application form

Visa process can take at least between 6-8 weeks to complete. Each successful application is assigned a reference number/authorization code by the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. You will need the reference number/authorization code along with your original passport to collect your visa. Once we receive the reference number/ authorization code, we will forward it to you via email. Then, you should schedule an appointment with the Iranian Embassy or Consulate in your Country. Carry the obtained visa reference number/ authorization code together with your passport to the relevant embassy or consulate to collect your visa.
