Abadan Faculty of Nursing

Abadan School of Nursing started its activities in 1969, under the name of the Faculty of Nursing, which trained the staff of hospitals. The College officially started its activities in 1973 with the admission of students through two years of Nursing and Midwifery. With the onset of the imposed war in 1979 the center ceased to operate and students were transfered to the universities of Shiraz and Isfahan.

After the end of eight years of sacred defense and after the reconstruction of Post-War damages, with the efforts of the authorities in March 1991, at the 50th meeting of the Council of Expansion of Medical Sciences, dated 7/3/1992, the center was opened with the name of Abadan School of Nursing. Therefore, as one of the eight faculties of Ahvaz Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences, this faculty began its work by accepting the first course of undergraduate nursing students in February 1992, and continued until October 2014.

It should be noted that the education and supervision of 6 postgraduate nursing students of the International Department was also in charge of Abadan School of Nursing. Since May 2011, the Faculty of Nursing has been transformed into Abadan Faculty of Medical Sciences and Health Sciences, and since 2012 has been licensed to establish medical fields, undergraduate and laboratory sciences, anesthesiology, medical emergencies, public health, etc. were given to the faculty.

About 1400 students graduated from Abadan School of Nursing.

It is interesting to note that only between the years 2013 to 2018, 39 freshman students of this faculty have passed the master's exams at the best universities in the country. There are currently 540 students studying in the School of Nursing and in the Department of Nursing, Operating Room and Anesthesiology, and there are 31 professors working and teaching, which is a very good indicator of student-to-teacher ratio of 17: 1 throughout the country.

Abadan School of Nursing is located opposite Ayatollah Jamie Abadan International Airport.

Abadan is located 100 km southwest of Ahvaz and 15 km from Khorramshahr. Abadan School of Medical Sciences covers 3 cities of Abadan, Khorramshahr and Shadegan, two parts of Arvandkandar and Mino Island, and is headquartered in Abadan. You can reach Abadan via Abadan Airport (Ahvaz Road, Abadan Road, Mahshahr to Abadan, Khorramshahr to Abadan), Tehran to Khorramshahr (and also by sea) Arvand River.

Abadan Taleghani Hospital

Ayatollah Taleghani Hospital in Abadan was established in 1973 with therapeutic activity and was closed during the sacred defense due to air bombardments and personnel were dispatched to nearby cities. After completion of major overhaul on 1995/4/7, it resumed operation. It has been built on a 61965-square-meter. The hospital was rebuilt and refurbished during 2017 to 2018, and is now one of the best hospitals in the area. Specialized services are provided in all departments.

Abadan Shahid Beheshti Hospital

The hospital was founded in 1950. The initial name of this hospital was the Red Crescent of Abadan, it was changed to Abadan Shahid Beheshti Hospital in 1983.

In 1983 the internal ward and operating room were inaugurated, however, it was inactivated because of the Iran-Iraq war in 1985 and re-opened in October 1989, including emergency room, interior, operating room and office. Male and female surgeries, CCU and infant surgery were added in 1993. By the end of November 2001, all wards were transferred to Ayatollah Taleghani Hospital in Abadan.

The new emergency building was founded in 2003 after the demolition of the old emergency room. The dialysis, thalassemia, physiotherapy and emergency departments were in operation until 2014 and since March 2015 all hospitalized departments have been restored and restarted.

Khorramshahr Valiasr Hospital

Valiasr Hospital is the only hospital affiliated to Khorramshahr Health and Treatment Network with 240 approved beds and 162 active beds and an area of ​​97020 square meters on 2003/1/21.

With the opening of specialized clinic projects in 2016 and 2017, the LDR has reached the physiological delivery block of the new chemotherapy and emergency department, with an area of ​​26080 square meters and 169 active beds.

The hospital is a medical and educational center and is currently under the supervision of the Abadan Faculty of Medical Sciences. It is one of the hospitals where specialized services are provided. The hospital strives to achieve the highest quality level and performs many activities such as quality assurance, accreditation and risk management.

Shahid Moarefi Zadeh Hospital (Shadegan)

Shahid Moarefi Zadeh Hospital, located in Shadegan, Khuzestan province, is a hospital affiliated with Abadan University of Medical Sciences with 125 beds, established in 1992.

Hazrat Zeinab Hospitals (Arvand Kenar)

Hazrat Zeinab Medical Center is one of the hospitals covered by Abadan University of Medical Sciences. The center has 32 approved beds, 21 of which are active; it has emergency, radiology and laboratory and dialysis sections and operating rooms and delivery blocks are supposed to be built in the near future. The center is located 45 kilometers from Abadan and covers a population of 45,000 people in Arvand kenar. The hospital also strives to provide the best service to these people, given the 8-year-long area of ​​sacred defense in the region and pilgrims from all over the country.
