B.Sc. operating room (OR), is generally a paramedical area of education that enables students to function at OR units of hospitals, where surgical procedures are performed.

Students of OR are trained to operate the equipment (some of them with advanced technology) designed to provide patients with specific conditions, the required and specialized care.

Knowing that operating rooms are sterile environments, students learn how to prevent the spread of germs through disinfecting procedures or other measures such as wearing protective cloths called scrubs; or shoe covers, masks, caps, eye shields, and the like. Adjusting the light (often brightly lit) and keep the temperature in very cool condition combines other areas of learning of such students, though operating rooms are often well air-conditioned to avoid nosocomial infection.
