The conference focused on global thematic priorities such as climate-sensitive emerging infectious diseases, research ecosystem and innovation, novel disease surveillance systems, antimicrobial resistance, and maternal and child health.

 

During the opening ceremony of the conference, Dr. Hechmi Louzir and Dr. Samia Moncef, the former and current heads of the Pasteur Institute of Tunisia, Dr. Amadou Sall, the President of the Pasteur Network, Dr. Stewart Cole, the President of the Pasteur Network Foundation and the Pasteur Institute of Paris, Dr. Rebecca Grais, the Executive Director of the Pasteur Network, Dr. Ali Mourad, the Minister of Health of Tunisia, Dr. Mansaf Boukthir, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Tunisia, delivered speeches emphasizing the strengthening of scientific and health activities of the Pasteur Network for disease prevention and control.

 

Following the conference, specialized sessions were held on strengthening epidemiological surveillance and combating future pandemics, supporting research and development for the production of biological products such as vaccines in countries with low and middle incomes, and creating a scientific community for young scientists of the Pasteur Network. The summit concluded after three days of scientific and technical sessions in Tunisia.

 

In this conference, attended by Dr. Rahim Soroush, the head of the Pasteur Institute of Iran, along with Dr. Ahmad Fiyaz and Dr. Mostafa Salehi Vaziri from the Pasteur Institute of Iran, bilateral and multilateral negotiations were conducted with other members of the network, including the Pasteur Institute of Tunisia, Dakar, Hong Kong, Korea, and Paris, to establish and develop areas of cooperation and address the needs of the Pasteur Institute of Iran from the Pasteur Network. A cooperation agreement between the heads of the Pasteur Institute of Iran and Tunisia was also signed.

 

The next summit of Pasteur Network presidents will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, next year.
