Three hundred and six academic staff work in six schools including school of medicine, nursing and midwifery, allied medical sciences, public health، advanced technologies in medicine, and dentistry. The international campus of the Golestan's University of Medical Sciences Was also founded in 2013.
Golestan University of Medical Sciences consists of 13 healthcare centers, located in each of 13 Golestan cities, There are 25 active hospitals in Golestan province including 16 govermental and 6 private hospitals.

Two hospitals belong to public health and the remaining one is a military hospital. These hospitals are allocated to different cities around the province and provide HealthCare services at different levels including general, specialty and subspecialty services based on their population needs. Sayyad Shirazi hospital in Gorgan city (West) and Shohada hospital in Gonbad city (East) are referral centers delivering gynecological and obstetrics services.


 Imam Reza hospital in Ramian city (East) and 5-A.zar burning center provide specialized services to burned patients. Talghani hospital in Gorgan city (West) and Talghani hospital in Gonbad city (East) are referral tertiary centers for pediatric diseases. Amir Almomenin hospital in Kordkoy city and Salim center in Gorgan city provide specialty and subspecialty services, including cardiac Surgery and angiography to patients with cardiovascular diseases. Gorgan has three teaching hospitals including 5-azar hospital, Talghani hospital and Sayyad Shirazi hospital. 

There are 22 active research centers in University of Medical Sciences. Two of these research centers could obtain full approval from the Ministry of Health and Medical Education including Golestan Research center of Gastroenterology and hepatology and Infectious Diseases Research Center.
