Center at a glance
Vision
The center attempts to fulfill its goals of expanding and developing not only its space and facilities but also its research activities (establishing at least one more research center with a wider domain of research on gastroenterology diseases and widely screening bowel cancer diseases) according to a five-year plan.
Mission
The Gastroenterology and Liver research center were established after the courses on gastroenterologist assistance was held, and relying on elevating the academic skills of graduates and expanding educational and research environment, aims to train students who own decent academic and practical capabilities in addition to having special competence in developing and expanding educational and research infrastructure.
Goals
Academic and objective investigation of gastrointestinal, liver and bile ducts diseases including screening techniques, diagnosis, and treatment.
Ongoing Activities
- Creating a database for inflammatory bowel disease patients.
- Creating a database for celiac disease patients.
- Evaluating the epidemiologic and clinicopathologic indices of patients with inflammatory bowel and celiac diseases.
- Evaluating response to treatment in inflammatory bowel diseases using new medications (anti-TNF).
- Evaluating the effectiveness of different diets on eliminating Helicobacter pylori.
- Evaluating the effectiveness of some medicinal diets on fatty liver indices.
- Evaluating the results of pregnancy in female IBD patients.
- Evaluating epidemiologic and clinicopathologic characteristics of autoimmune hepatitis patients.
- Evaluating the molecular expression and different genotyping in gastric cancer patients for individualized medicine planning.
