Goals, Plans, Vision, and Mission of the research center

Vision

In the next five years, this center aims to become one of the most credible and efficient research centers of its type in the country so it can play a key role in regularizing traditional and complementary medicine in the province. In order to help this vision to materialize, the center will develop its relationship with other research centers and, by winning their trust, will attract and organize the complementary medicine therapists in the province.

Mission

The traditional and complementary medicine center of the Mazandaran University of Medical Science intends to make it possible for the complementary medicine to have a share in improving healthcare in the province by developing the culture of research and offering educational courses on traditional medicine. Regarding the current demands, this center tries to play its role in introducing the true precise nature of traditional and complementary medicine and setting its framework and regulating it.

In order to improve the quality and quantity of its activities the center has the following goals in mind:

    Using doctors able to practice traditional medicine and different branches of complementary medicine according to the ministry of health

    Holding workshops and courses on traditional and complementary medicine for participants of the corresponding fields

    Developing an accurate appreciation for Iranian traditional medicine among both students and faculty of all fields

    Establishing the traditional medicine network with the help of other research centers and also researchers and graduates in this field

    Developing and expanding buildings which suit the use of all types of interested individuals with any physical disabilities so that people with handicaps (the elderly, young children, pregnant women, wheelchair users, and blind people) can independently use the facilities of the center according to the slogan “city for all”

    Developing and improving library, online and lab research facilities for all of those interested in traditional and complementary medicine

    Increasing the number of studies on Iranian traditional medicine as the top priority and complementary medicine as the second priority through taking the role as the coordinator of research activities.

    Developing the management of disease treatment with the traditional and complementary medicine approach

    Broadening comparative and modern researches in traditional and complementary medicine

    Improving and developing the position of the center along with that of the traditional and complementary medicine in regional, national and international scales.

    Developing knowledge and studies in traditional and complementary medicine and treating addiction.

History

The traditional and complementary medical center officially started its activity in 1998.

The traditional and complementary medical center officially started its activity in 1998 by opening an office for Islamic medicine studies on the third floor of the department of research and technology. The center was moved to its current location on the top floor of dentistry department, next to Baghban specialized clinic simultaneous with obtaining its establishment permit from the ministry of health and medical education.
