English Language Proficiency
MAZUMS accepts both the TOEFL and IELTS English language scores. Clearly, only one would be enough. The TOEFL test is the most widely accepted English language test, and the IELTS is the International English Language Testing System that measures the ability to communicate in English across language skills (listening, reading, writing, and speaking). Similar to most schools around the world, we interpret the scores as follows:

In order to register at MAZUMS and commence your studies, you must provide a certificate of IELTS with a minimum band score of 5.5 or its equivalent in TOEFL IBT (minimum 69) or TOEFL PBT (minimum 525) at the time of registration. Otherwise, attending English language classes may be necessary. These applicants are required to refer to MAZUMS Int’l College at the time of registration and receive Exemption/English Classes’ Registration Certificate after attending in MAZUMS Int’l College placement test. (Read below for further information)
Evaluation Procedure:
The following individuals are normally exempted from providing a certificate of English language proficiency, but in some cases, they will be required to refer to MAZUMS Int’l College for an English language Proficiency placement test:
* Applicants who are natives of English-Speaking countries
* Applicants who are from countries where English is the official language
Again, in some cases, those above-mentioned individuals may be required to refer to MAZUMS Int’l College for an English language Proficiency placement test based on MAZUMS Office of International Admission’s decision.
After the placement test, if applicant’s English language proficiency is not high enough to attend in the program’s English classes, he/she is required to pass at least one semester English language classes before the program or during the program. This decision will be made based on MAZUMS Int’l College evaluation and the placement test, and based on the decision of MAZUMS Office of International Admissions for international students.
