Ramsar


Located in the west end of Mazandaran province, Ramsar is limited northward by the Caspian Sea, southward by the central Alborz mountain range(Alamot area, a dependence of Qazvin province), westward by Chaboksar a dependence of Gilan province and eastward by Tonekabon. Having temperate and humid climate, it is the second rainiest city of Iran. Including two area of mountain and foothill, the mountainous area is a part of the Alborz mountain range. These areas are covered with forest and in high places with pasture. Having forests, pastures and rice paddies, this area enjoys rice and citrus.

Natural Attractions

Javaherdeh

Javaherdeh village is one the most beautiful tourist areas of Ramsar and Mazandaran. There arevarious ideas about its name. It was formerly called Joor-Deh, meaning a village on the heights. Javaherdeh is a historical area with lush forests. The region is covered with snow for half of the year. It enjoys a fairly good weather in summers. This dreamland is a masterpiece of nature and it shines like a dimond in Alborz mountain renge. Popular sports in Javaherdeh include mountaineering (such as Somamoos Peak), local wrestling called Gilehmardi and horse riding. Some of the historical attractions of this area are Adineh Mosque and Gabri (Zoroastrian) graves. 

 

Safa-Rood Public Forest

Located 5Km of the road to Ramsar-Javaherdeh, in the beautiful forest regions of the Alborz mountain range and near the Safa-Rood river. This public forest has many recreational centers.

 

Markooh Peak

Located 6Km east of Ramsar, 3Km of the seaside, on the Tonekabon-Ramsar road, Markoohpeak is a part of Alborz mountain range. Various trees such as buxus hyrcana, quercus castaneifolia, and parrotia persica grow in this area.The peak has an altitude above the Caspian Sea level.

 

Gargarluka Cave

This cave has a steep slope and rests in an impassable area from the heights of IlmiliMountain with rocky walls. Luka in local dialect means ‘hole’ or ‘groove’.

 

Yaghi Luka Cave

Having a 95 degree steep, the upper mouth of the cave is 3 meters.Located northwest of Ramsar, it has an altitude of about 1000 meters above free sea level.

 

Bam Bameh Cave

The cave is located on the southern edge of Ramsar Hotel, southwest of Ramak district, in the middle of an old forest, 200m of Qal‘eh-Band mountain. The mouth of the cave is like a triangle and is about 40 meters deep and possibly in the past has been a place to hide precious antiques. The Bam Bameh Cave is an attractive, scary and mysterious place in Ramsar.

 

Shabpareh Chal Cave

This cave due to the presence of numerous bats is known as the Shabpareh (bat) Chal (cave).

 

Dalkhani Forest

Located 7Km off the road from Ramsar to Tonekabon, across Jannat-Roodbar road, the forest is one of the most important natural attractions of Ramsar.

 

Mineral Cold Water Spring of Ney-Dasht

It is located 12Km south of Ramsar, in a valley near Safarood river.

 

Mineral Warm Water Springs and Its Therapeutic Properties

Mineral warm water springs are considered a beautiful and recreational place for tourists. Today, they are highly effective in treatment of many diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, cutaneous diseases, bones and nerve pains. The treatment is done by bathing in mineral waters. As science makes progress it further recommends the use of mineral waters in medical treatments.

Marmar Palace of Ramsar (Tamashagah-e Khazar Museum)

Located on the southern edge of Ramsar, on the slope of the Alborz mountain range, in a lush extensive garden, it was built by the German engineers in 1938. It bears features of European architecture. The exterior facade is covered with marble stones. The monument features pillars made of monolithic marble stones, engraved capitals and plinths. The buildingʼs interior is adorned with stucco carvings and wooden decoration. The artistic elements used in this construction combine the arts of western and oriental countries. Famous as Marmar (marble) palace, it is used as a museum now.

 

Ramsar Hotel (Azadi Hotel):Bearing features of beautiful architecture, it includes old and new hotels.

 

Aqa Besmel Mausoleum: Located in Akhoond-Mahalleh village, Sadat-Shahr, Ramsar, it is the burial place of Aqa Sayyed Hossain, famous as Aqa Besmel from Pelasayyed family.

 

Tomb Tower of Aqa Pelasayyed:Located in the public graveyard of Sadat-Shahr, in Akhoond-Mahalleh village, this monument is not very old. It is important for the wood decoration in its entrance and in its metallic latticed tomb enclosure. The Mausoleum is the burial place ofAqa Mir ‘Ali-Ebn-e Sayyed Hassan, famous asAqa Pelasayyed.

 

Sayyed KiaMausoleum: It is located in Boreshi village, Sadat-Shahr, Ramsar.
