 Department of Nursing

The Department of Nursing started by its goal, aim and vision at University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences in 1993. This department worked to help expanding educational, research and clinical services in rehabilitation, social and mental health to promote level of social health by training students which have new approaches in rehabilitation nursing and social welfare.

What is Nursing?

Nursing is a branch of medical sciences and is an independent discipline. Nursing graduates are members of health care industry and are able to perform professional roles such as education, coordination, protection, support, care and cure.

Nurses play significant roles in hospitals and clinics both in private and public sectors. They make up the biggest health care occupation in Iran. Nursing job duties include communicating between patients and doctors, caring for patients, administering medications and supervising nurses' aides.

Aims

Our vision is to train the highest quality nursing students. The mission of Nursing Department includes supporting mission of University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences in knowledge, cognition and culture development by educating, researching and producing medical care and health services in national level by:

·         Training professional experts according to country’s needs

·         Development of knowledge borders according to new researches

·         To produce and expand effective caring services to clients

Teaching

We offer Master of Science in nursing, Rehabilitation nursing, gerontology and PhD in nursing. Our department Participates in scientific societies by presenting scientific and research articles for scientific improvement of nursing profession.

Research

Research is the foundation for teaching and clinical practice in Nursing Department.  Our department has an internationally recognized research program in different areas and it will continue this approach.

As one of the oldest educational departments in the country with world class academics and professional clinical fields, the Nursing Department provides a wide range of clinical and theoretical knowledge to make graduates ready to work in metropolitan and rural areas as allied health care professionals. Students also develop skills in learning, problem solving and decision making which are necessary parts of working as a competent nurse.

USWR in The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2022 

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2022 has introduced University of Social Welfare & Rehabilitation among the top institutions worldwide.

The ranking includes more than 1,600 universities across 99 countries and territories, making them the largest and most diverse university rankings to date.The table is based on 13 carefully calibrated performance indicators that measure an institution’s performance across four areas: teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international outlook.

Iranian longitudinal Study on Aging (IRLSA) database launched

The national project "Iranian longitudinal Study on Aging" IRLSA was officially launched in January 2020 by Research Center on Aging of the University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences in collaboration with the Welfare Department of Yazd Province, Yazd University of Medical Sciences and Ardakan County Research Center.

    In this national project, information is collected on 5,000 samples of middle-aged people aged 50 to older (even 90 years old) who have participated in the project, and during 15 years, based on about one thousand variables, Physical, psychological, social, spiritual and environmental changes of these people are monitored to determine the problems of population.

 

The results and information obtained from the implementation of the first phase of the project are a guide for the country's National Aging Document and can help organizations involved in aging to plan to address the problems of the elderly.
