 Department of Preschool Education

The Department of Preschool Education was established within the University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation sciences (USWR) in 1992. The department is active in teaching theoretical and clinical subjects and also intensely research-active. Therefore, the academics and students are engaged in a variety of research activities. Numerous students are currently studying in our department. All staff is committed to exemplary professional behavior, collaboration and support.

The department welcomes national and also international students at undergraduate and also postgraduate level.

What is Preschool Education?

A preschool specialist can work as a preschool child teacher, or an expert in developing learning materials. She or he can even become a preschool health specialist, a preschool media expert and a preschool specialist researcher.

Aims

The main aim of our department is to educate and train experts to work as a preschool teacher. Developing skills in preparing learning materials for preschool centers is another responsibility for the department. Our department is enthusiastic about supporting students who are eager to be successful preschool professionals by providing high quality learning and developing skills.

Teaching

The Department of Preschool Education emphasizes close contact between staff and students. Our undergraduate program offers 2 different areas of specialty, namely, preschool education for normal children and preschool education for children with special needs in the B.Sc and M.Sc.

Research

Research is the foundation for teaching and clinical practice in the Preschool Department.  Our department has a nationally recognized research program in different areas such as ensuring the highest quality of education in our preschool centers, examining the relationship between preschool education and children's educational achievements in elementary school etc.

As one of the oldest educational departments in USWR with world class academics and professional staff, we are proud to offer the Bachelor and Master of Preschool Education as a four-year full time course which provides a wide range of knowledge and skills to make graduates ready to work in metropolitan and rural areas as preschool professionals.

USWR in The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2022 

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2022 has introduced University of Social Welfare & Rehabilitation among the top institutions worldwide.

The ranking includes more than 1,600 universities across 99 countries and territories, making them the largest and most diverse university rankings to date.The table is based on 13 carefully calibrated performance indicators that measure an institution’s performance across four areas: teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international outlook.

Iranian longitudinal Study on Aging (IRLSA) database launched

The national project "Iranian longitudinal Study on Aging" IRLSA was officially launched in January 2020 by Research Center on Aging of the University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences in collaboration with the Welfare Department of Yazd Province, Yazd University of Medical Sciences and Ardakan County Research Center.

    In this national project, information is collected on 5,000 samples of middle-aged people aged 50 to older (even 90 years old) who have participated in the project, and during 15 years, based on about one thousand variables, Physical, psychological, social, spiritual and environmental changes of these people are monitored to determine the problems of population.

 

The results and information obtained from the implementation of the first phase of the project are a guide for the country's National Aging Document and can help organizations involved in aging to plan to address the problems of the elderly.
