 Pediatric Neurorehabilitation Research Center

The importance of the early years of life in achieving maximum growth and development in a human being has been long known. In fact, most neural pathways of the brain develop from the embryonic stage to three years. So, normal and healthy development in the early years of life will flourish the path of one’s life. The Pediatric Neurorehabilitation Research Center (PNRC) was formally established in 2008 under the authority and supervision of the University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences in Tehran.

Our mission

· To increase our share in knowledge production in the field of early childhood development (ECD) at national and international levels, by increasing the quantity and quality of epidemiologic as well as experimental research in this area.

· To increase our share in decision-making and policy- making at the university level and also at the national and regional level in the field of early childhood development.

· To increase our share in the country’s health-care system reform.

· To train efficient researchers, experts in the field of pediatric neuro- rehabilitation and early childhood development.

·  Scientific cooperation with other countries and international organizations.

Main areas of research

·  Epidemiological and descriptive-analytical research in local, national and regional scales, regarding children's developmental status and disorders and their affecting factors.

·  Determination of effective prevention strategies for children's developmental disorders in all domains.

·  Determination of effective early interventional strategies for children with developmental delays and disorders in all domains.

·  Determination of effective rehabilitation strategies for children with developmental disorders in all domains.

·  Determination of effective interventions for the improvement of the health of families with children with special needs and developmental disorders.

·  Determination of effective interventions for the promotion of development in normal children and adolescents.

·  Construction and development of standard childhood assessment tools for the early detection of developmental and behavioral delays and disorders.

USWR in The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2022 

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2022 has introduced University of Social Welfare & Rehabilitation among the top institutions worldwide.

The ranking includes more than 1,600 universities across 99 countries and territories, making them the largest and most diverse university rankings to date.The table is based on 13 carefully calibrated performance indicators that measure an institution’s performance across four areas: teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international outlook.

Iranian longitudinal Study on Aging (IRLSA) database launched

The national project "Iranian longitudinal Study on Aging" IRLSA was officially launched in January 2020 by Research Center on Aging of the University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences in collaboration with the Welfare Department of Yazd Province, Yazd University of Medical Sciences and Ardakan County Research Center.

    In this national project, information is collected on 5,000 samples of middle-aged people aged 50 to older (even 90 years old) who have participated in the project, and during 15 years, based on about one thousand variables, Physical, psychological, social, spiritual and environmental changes of these people are monitored to determine the problems of population.

 

The results and information obtained from the implementation of the first phase of the project are a guide for the country's National Aging Document and can help organizations involved in aging to plan to address the problems of the elderly.
