Iranian Research Center on Aging
The Iranian Research Center on Aging is an interdisciplinary research center sponsored by the University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences. IRCA as the first and only ageing research center in Iran established in 2001 and approved by Ministry of Health and Medical Education. IRCA starts its formal activity since 2008.
The main activities of IRCA including supportingpsycho-social and physical research project, conducting the “Iranian longitudinal study on ageing”, established the Iranian Association Gerontology and Geriatrics (IAGG), accepted research-based PhD students and having the interdisciplinary “SALMAND: Iranian journal of ageing” which indexing in the WOS and Scopus.
Our mission
· Initially the mission of IRCA was optimizing elderly quality of life by conduct Multi-disciplinary research in the areas of biology, physiology, psychology and sociology.
· Knowledge translation and dissemination of innovative ageing research findings into practice and public policy.
· Training future gerontologist and health provider to be leader in universities and government agencies.
· Collaboration with national and international research centers, policy making institute and community to promote older adult’s well-being and social welfare.
· Promoting health system and health services in order to respond to ageing population.
· Working closely with international ageing centers and national government agencies and communities.
