Life at USWR
The University of Social welfare and Rehabilitation sciences (USWR) was established in 1992 as a collaborating university with the National Welfare Organisation. USWR was recognized as an independent university under the supervision of Ministry of Health and Medical Education in 2007. USWR is a unique university in Iran and the region in the field of rehabilitation, welfare and social services. The mission of the University of Social welfare and Rehabilitation sciences (USWR) is to provide the highest quality of teaching and research in the field of mental health, social welfare and rehabilitation as a focal point both at the national and regional level. We are proud that this world class environment is offering a comprehensive range of rehabilitation courses such as Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech Therapy, Social Work, Gerontology and also top ranked research centres for Genetics, Aging, Social determinant of Health, Addiction and Disaster. Also, there are different specialized hospitals and clinics in the fields of rehabilitation and mental health such as the Razi mental health hospital and the Rofeideh rehabilitation hospital which are affiliated to the university. The university is located in a green environment with a lovely view of Alborz Mountain in the north of Tehran. USWRs offer vast range of programs and degrees at undergraduate and postgraduate specialty Ph.D.
Library
The Library is right at the heart of our campus and you’ll find it invaluable. It contains a comprehensive range of medical and rehabilitation e-books and e-journals and digitized core readings. The Library’s online search tools make it simple to find the materials you need and easy to renew or reserve items. The short loan collection also ensures access to those core texts in high demand.
The first floor is discreet and quiet, and is ideal for research, revision and writing. Librarians who specialize in your subject area can help you make the most of the Library’s resources and provide consultation sessions if you need extra help.
Library works for several hours a day usually but there might be a different timetable during the exam period. The electronic database works for 24 hours, seven days a week and our support team provides help by telephone or by email. There are links to the governmental and non-governmental organizations in our website so students can get access to different categories. The best and most prestigious scientific journals can be found in our library either online or hardcopy and it is always available to students and academics. Both international and local students are welcome to collect their ID cards as soon as their enrolling process completes. They can access all of our services by providing their ID cards.
Student photo identification card
Students are welcome to collect their ID cards from the security office. Identification card is a useful tool for using a variety of campus and non-campus services including entering the library and accessing the database. Each student card contains a personal identification number. It will help to identify students’ records and ensure better protection for students. Student cards have a concession sticker which entitles them to discounts when using public transport.
Housing
The university has provided quite a few housing dormitories for students and our new dormitory building is going to be ready in a short time. International students are accommodated in a different building.located in the north Tehran and it is in a good condition. There are three university accommodations available to ladies and two university dormitories available to male students.
Sport
There are lots of ways to keep active with our large sports hall, soccer field and fitness classes at anytime when it suits you. We also offer club membership?? with classes and courses at a nominal fee. Alternatively, why not try one of our free activities like our outdoor gym, walking, running or cycling routes and keep yourself active every day?
Study and socialize
With free Wi-Fi, comfy chairs, an on-site café, the campus is your perfect alternative venue for studying and socializing.
International Office
Our International Office offers support to all international students throughout your studies. Our Student Experience team has qualified advisers ready to assist on all immigration and visa-related matters. We have a substantial network of support to help you adjust to, and make the most out of the student life. We want you to feel that you are living and learning in a supportive, positive environment.
International students’ Admission
USWR’s admission process is dependent on student’s academic history. Some of our courses might have additional requirements before entering the course. A panel of qualified academics will examine the students’ competencies and they abide by the philosophy to ensure that the admission process is a both fair and beneficial to the students and the faculty .
How to apply
USWR’s offers a wide variety of courses and gives students a chance to complete studies at different levels from bachelor to Ph.D.
Students who wish to enroll in one of our courses must fill up the application forms which are available online and submit these forms before the deadlines. Financial plans should be done via our international office. High school diplomas or its equivalent must be submitted. Please be noted all the documents must be translated into English and validated by an academically approved agency.
Educational services
Department of Student Services maintains an updated record of students’ list as well as provides a range of services including course registration, change in students’ status, transcripts and so on. Staff in student service building is friendly and willing to help students to overcome any possible issues relating to study.
