Department of Psychology and Education of Exceptional Children
The Department of Psychology and Education of Exceptional Children was established within the University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences (USWR) in 1995. The department is active in teaching theoretical and clinical subjects and also intensely research-active. Therefore, the academic students are engaged in a variety of research activities. While many students graduated, numerous students are currently studying in our department. In this world class department, all staff is committed to exemplary professional behavior, collaboration and support.

What is Psychology and Education of Exceptional Children?
The Psychology and Education of Exceptional Children is one of the most respected and well recognized majors in psychology. It promotes professional competence in special education by providing knowledge-based theory, practice and research. It enables students to establish the relation between educational theories and practices for developing a curriculum and meet pupil’s diverse needs.
Aims
The Department of Psychology and Education of Exceptional Children aims to promote, maintain and restore mental health and prevent dissatisfaction in people of all ages. We also concerned with optimizing potential ability, mental health, self-helping, independence and quality of life through training, educating, counseling, psychotherapy, and rehabilitation practices. Therefore, we are going to undertake the best practice in education and research in a progressive and supportive environment for both educators and students. Our mission is to introduce students with the latest world knowledge of psychology for children with special needs, to consult, to offer community service, to inform people with inclusion of exceptional children in the society, to perform innovative research, and to connect with similar institutions. Toward achieving the aforementioned vision and mission, our faculty members work incredibly hard to provide excellent research and dynamic education. Throughout this aim, we work in collaboration with other universities at national and international levels.
Teaching
The department offers a master degree of Psychology and Education of Exceptional Children and ensures your professionalism and confident practice by delivering psychology training from the beginning of your course till the last day of your study. The students have access to the comprehensive advanced study and clinical training and teaching, rehabilitative centers of the only rehabilitation university in the country and in the region.
Research
Research is the foundation for teaching and clinical practice in this subject. Our department has an internationally recognized research program in different areas such as children health, mother’s health, educators’ health and offers postgraduate research degree in Psychology and Education of Exceptional Children.
